Dollar Store Recipes: Meat and Cheese Pasta

Hello world and welcome back to Dollar Store Decadence Recipes where we make good food using ingredients that can be found at 99 Cents Only Stores.  This time I made a yummy gooey, cheesy Meat and Cheese Pasta, adapted from Delish.  As usual most of the ingredients are from the 99 and the pasta came out pretty good if I do say so myself.  So here we go.

  1. Cook your pasta and get that out of the way.  When it’s done, make sure to save 1/2 cup of the pasta water before you drain it.
  2. Add the olive oil to your pan and brown the ground beef over medium heat. Season the beef with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. After 2-3  minutes, add the onions, garlic, tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, parsley flakes, chili flakes and pasta water, combining well.  Simmer for 10 more minutes.
  4. Stir in the pasta and 1 cup of cheese, then top with the rest and more parsley flakes if you want.
  5. Eat!

Let’s talk about the cheddar:

I bought the ground beef at Target for $4.49

The mozzarella came from the 99 – 75¢

Onion came from a 4-pack at the 99 – 25¢

Tomato Paste was from the 99 as well – 20¢

Red Chili Flakes – 2¢

Worcestershire Sauce – 10¢

Dried Parsley Flakes – 20¢

Garlic – 6¢

This recipe serves six and the total cost was  $6.07 which is $1.01 per person.  We love recipes that come out to less than $2 per person around here.

Okay so try this and let me know what you think!
